BI-Service Technical Engineer

As a Technical Engineer, you will focus on building, configuring, and optimizing BI infrastructure, data pipelines, and reporting solutions, ensuring they are reliable, scalable, and aligned with business objectives. In this role, you will work closely with Functional Engineers, Data Analysts, and other technical teams to design, implement, and troubleshoot BI solutions, creating the backbone for data-driven decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate is experienced in BI tools, data integration, and database management, with a proactive approach to solving complex technical challenges. 

What will you do?

• Design and develop technical solutions for BI infrastructure, including data models, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and database configuration;
• Collaborate with Functional Engineers to ensure BI solutions align with functional requirements and meet performance standards;
• Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and other database elements to support efficient data retrieval and reporting;
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to BI tools, data integration, and database performance;
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security across all BI platforms, implementing best practices for data management and governance;
• Regularly perform system checks, updates, and maintenance to maintain BI solution stability and efficiency;
• Analyze current BI infrastructure and recommend enhancements for improved performance, scalability, and user experience;
• Stay up-to-date on BI tools and technology trends, proposing innovative solutions to enhance data processing and reporting capabilities;
• Support the development and implementation of data governance and security protocols to protect business-critical data. 

What do we ask of you?

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience;
• At least 3 years of experience in a technical BI role or similar position;
• Hands-on experience in BI tool configuration (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau), ETL processes, and database management;
• Proficient in SQL and data modeling;
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) and data warehousing solutions is a plus;
• Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues, optimize queries, and design robust data models for reporting;
• Strong analytical mindset, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical challenges;
• Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across different levels of the organization;
• Experience and/ or affinity with Agile way of working;
• You are proficient in communication in English and preferably also Dutch.
